Hon. Catherine Sarino-Evaristo​

COUNCILOR CATHERINE SARINO EVARISTO, is popularly known and fondly called as “KAREN” by her family, friends and relatives. She is the second child of Danilo Sagarbarria Sarino and Iluminada Matic Hintay. She is married to Mr. Rommel Evaristo.

She began her life as a public servant in her early years as a Sangguniang Kabataan Kagawad of Barangay Mabolo. She devoted her time and effort in making young Mabolonians productive, enthusiastic about sports, and responsible members of their barangay. To this day, most of the young residents of Barangay Mabolo who came under her wings continue setting good examples to the younger generations of barangay leaders that followed them which include their own kids by inculcating them with strong social and spiritual values.

Her public service didn’t stop there. She became a Barangay Kagawad and later on Karen was elected as Punong Barangay of Barangay Mabolo which led to her election as President of the Liga ng mga Barangay of Bacoor in 2007 until 2013. Consequently, she became an ex – officio member of the Sangguniang Bayan of the former Municipality of Bacoor and was named as chairperson of the Committee on Barangay Affairs. She then ran and was elected via landslide as the first Vice Mayor of the newly-created City of Bacoor during the 2013 Local Elections. Consequently, she is also the first woman Vice Mayor of the City of Bacoor.

During her term as Vice Mayor she was elected as an Officer of the Cavite Vice Mayors League and of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines Region IV-A. She presided over the Sangguniang Panlungsod and spearheaded the approval of various ordinances for the fast, efficient and appropriate delivery of services to the people of Bacoor during her 3 term as Vice Mayor. It was during her term that the Sangguniang Panlungsod its official website (www.bacoorcitysp.com) where copies of all resolutions and ordinances passed by the City Council can be viewed and downloaded for free by the public. She also pioneered the holding of online sessions and hybrid sessions in response to the challenges brought about by COVID-19.

At the height of the pandemic, she shepherded the approval of several ordinances approving the budgets needed by the city government to help Bacoorenos who have been affected by COVID-19 and helped hundreds of her constituents make both ends meet.

Moved by her constituents’ clamor for her to continue her public service after her term as Vice Mayor, she ran and was elected as Councilor of the first district of the City of Bacoor during the 2022 National and Local Elections.

Despite all the success she continues to reap as a public servant, Karen remains humble, modest, and gracious. Neither does she forget her humble beginnings because she believes that everything in life is fleeting and temporary.
