Hon. Miguel N. Bautista

Council Member's Profile

Miguel “Mike” N. Bautista, a pastor and is called “The Conscience of the People”.

Pastor Mike was elected as Councilor in the year 2007 at the Municipality of Bacoor. He was also re-elected as City Councilor from 2013 to 2022. During his term, he was the Chairman of the Committee on Ethics, Appointments and Government Reorganization and the Committee on Social Services. After his term, he worked as an Executive Assistant 3 to the Office of the Mayor from CY 2022 to 2024.

As a newly elected City Councilor, Pastor Mike decided to run again for public office because of a skill set that lends itself to politics. He also remembers the moment he was called – not to the pulpit but to politics. Pastor Mike once asked himself if churches “should keep political matters” or “express his views on a day to day social political questions.” He chose the latter – bringing politics to the pulpit. He also thinks that if politics is pushed into church it will serve as a safe haven for both discussion and organization. He also believes that a pastor running for office isn’t shaping the moment – he is seizing it.

Pastor Mike is a firm believer in the separation of church and state but he doesn’t see where a clergyman serving in public office is the same thing. When asked why he decided to run for office. (His answer was), “You know, I have a skill that I thought would serve my community and I just wanted to serve.”
