Alejandro F. Gutierrez, a retired Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Superintendent (equivalent to the rank of a one-star general with the Philippine Army), was born on April 5, 1957 in Las Piñas City and is now permanently residing in the City of Bacoor, Cavite. He was elected as City Councilor of the Bacoor West District (District 1) of the City of Bacoor, Cavite in 2016.
Nicknamed Alex, Gutierrez was the fourth of nine children. His parents were the late Bernardo and Macaria Gutierrez. He is married to the former Lourdes Salazar, a Punong Barangay in Tondo, Manila, and they are blessed with three offspring and four (4) healthy grandchildren. His family is his inspiration in rendering efficient public service.
Gutierrez took up B.S. Criminology at the Philippine College of Criminology and obtained his Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the Manuel L. Quezon University. He may not be a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) or even the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), but capability wise, he is considered to be of top calibre and has maintained a high level of efficiency and performance while in the police force. Due to his demonstrated capabilities, he became the head of the country’s premier police force, thus, making him a multi-awarded policeman.
A member of the Philippine Councilors League, Alex Gutierrez is the Chairman of the Committee on Peace and Order and Public Safety, the Committee on Human Rights and a member of the People’s Law Enforcement Board (PLEB).
Alex has always been skeptic in entering politics. He has received several offers to run for office. But politics has a way of calling. This man has always dreamt of serving his constituents by making a positive difference in the community.
He believes that being police officer is not much of a difference from being a local legislator. While his former duties were to prevent, stop or solve crimes, able to serve the community, protect vulnerable populations, and maintain a relationship of mutual respect and understanding with the community, all of these helped him a lot to become a good and effective public servant and build trust among his constituents. He believes that in order to build trust, one must display good sense of character and exhibit good values such as hard work, kindness, and integrity.
